Tuesday - 19th SeptemberThe day dawned very windy and dusty. I did the Delphat's Tourist mine tour while Jude did some shopping and laying around. The mine was terrific, we went down about 400 feet in the cage and then walked for quite a way through tunnels to the stope. Dave, our tour guide, was an ex-miner and gave us a great commentary and insight into the life of the miners and the operation of the mines. The tour took over two hours and I highly recommend it. After lunch we headed out to Silverton, where the wind and dust added to the desolation of the area. Odd few camels and donkeys wandering round. The gaol at Silverton is well worth a visit, as too is the Silverton hotel.
