Echuca/MoamaWe have just completed our first shakedown cruise. It was marvellous. We set off from Melbourne after a leisurely breakfast on Thursday 7th August and arrived in the afternoon at the Cottonwood Caravan Park on the banks of the Murray in Moama. The van towed like a dream, we averaged 19.7l/100k for the trip which included a bit of non-towing travel and 21.5l/100k for the trip from Echuca back to Melbourne (all towing). We travelled with our friends, Gail and Brian, a couple of experienced caravanners, who were very helpful to a couple of newbies (They are the couple on the right in the picture below of the four of us having lunch of soup and sandwiches at the Elmore rest stop). The weather was generally bright and clear, but cold over night, however we stayed cosy in our van. Took a riverboat cruise on the Pevensey, toured the Echuca dock precinct and went on a drive out to Deniliquin. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to starting a longer trip in a couple of weeks.
