Mildura

After a bit of a break from travelling over the Christmas season, we hooked up the rig and did a short 5 day trip to Mildura and surrounds to blow the cobwebs out and get ready for the big one in April.

Stayed at the Big 4 Golden River Caravan Gardens CP on the Murray on the Merbein Road out of Mildura.

Park was a mix of cabins, permanents, van and tent sites, good number of en-suite sites available.  Facilities were OK, the pool could have done with a little more grass around it but was very clean.

Our first day was a little warm, around 44/45C so we spent it sitting under the sails over the pool with friends at the Sunraysia resort.  Not much point venturing out in the heat, except to grab some refreshments from the bar.

Following days were a little cooler and we did some touring around the district, Wentworth, Red Cliffs, Merbein etc but the highlight was a day out at the Lake Mungo National Park.  What a marvellous place, its well worth the 90k of gravel occasionally corrugated road to get there and the 70k self drive tour around the park itself is wonderful.
