Monday - 3rd September

Drove from Cania Gorge and checked into the Scarness Beachfront Tourist Park on Hervey Bay.  We had a view of the bay from our site.

Tuesday - 4th September

Spent the day on the “Blue Horizon” whale watching cruise.  We sailed quite a way out to find the whales accompanied some way by porpoises.  The pod of three hump-back whales were gigantic and didn’t seem to mind the boats at all.  They swam around the boat, rolling over on their backs, slapping the water with their fins and tails then eventually got bored and swam off.  A generous lunch was provided and we headed back in close to Fraser Island as the wind got up and the water became somewhat rough.
