Gold CoastLeisurely drive up the Pacific Highway saw us arriving late in the afternoon at Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park in Palm Beach. Got a spot right on the water and booked in for a week. What a marvellous park, friendly staff, excellent facilities and some great fellow travellers. It's a terrific park for kids. Veged out a bit in the great weather, but did occasionally stir to take in some of the local attractions. Springbrook National Park was a treat and we actually spotted a Lyrebird as it crossed the walking track in front of us. We visited Seaworld and were somewhat disappointed. Spent a day down at Byron Bay, weather was great, meal in the pub was excellent and the whales abounded (somewhat off shore). I managed to get a (lucky) shot, through my binoculars, of a whale breaching. Set off home after our weeks stay and travelled back to Melbourne via Armidale, Dubbo and Benalla. Spent a day at the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo working off some of the excess weight by riding round it on hired bikes.
