Uluru

Wednesday - 16th June

Departed Erldunda around 9:00am and headed West for Uluru.  Checked into the Yulara Resort CP.  Set up then headed out to Uluru.  Pretty impressive.  Wasn't intending to climb, but had a rush of blood to the head and set off up.  Got about half way with lungs and legs both on fire, came over a hump and realised how much further I had to go. So took a few pictures, the view was wonderful, even from half way, and set off back down.  Going down was harder than climbing up.  Did the short Mutijulu walk and saw several examples of Aboriginal rock art and a water hole, home of Wanampi, an ancestral water snake.

We went round to the Sunset viewing area and watched the changing colours of the rock as the sun went down.  It was an amazing sight.

Park is well maintained with gravel sites and all services.  Our site had shade in the morning.
