Day 10 - Monday 10th May 2005

The "Changing of The Guard" at Buckingham palace is a must see for tourists, the Brits do pomp and ceremony so well.  We arrived at the front of the palace around 11am, shortly after various regiments marched or rode past. Magnificent spectacle.  We stood at the kerb side and got a very good view of the march past but we then had a poor view into the palace forecourt.  A good idea would be to come twice, once stationed against the palace fence to watch the changing of the guard ritual in the palace grounds and another time to watch the approach of the guards and the ride past of the cavalry.  After the parades we walked up Pall Mall, watched a photo-shoot of some racing cars then walked through St. James Park.  The flowers were very colourful and the ducks looked fat and tasty.  Walked through Horse Guards into Whitehall and had lunch at a pub just off Trafalgar Square.  We finished off the day at the British Museum, which had a large exhibition tracing the history of London through the ages.
