Kings CanyonFriday - 18th June Departed Yulara around 9:00am and headed back East bound for Kings Canyon. Checked into the Kings Canyon resort CP. Our site barely fit our van but it has a nice view of the Middle Ranges. Headed out to the canyon and did the easy Kings Creek walk, we'll do the rim walk tomorrow. Ran into Don and Sylvia again. We have ended up on adjacent sites in a couple of parks. Park was crowded, expensive ($30 night) and we were lucky to get in. Our site is gravel, relatively level but cramped. Our van didn't quite fit and hung out slightly in the roadway. There was no room for the cruiser on the site if we wanted the awning out. Facilities are handy and well maintained. Nice views though and staff friendly. All hookups provided. Saturday - 19th June Did the rim walk at Kings Canyon, weather was clear and cool. Took us about 4 hours to complete the circuit, the walk was wonderful. Almost ran the camera battery down trying to capture the fantastic images. The red stained sandstone and the sheer cliff walls are a photographers paradise. Went up to the Outback Barbeque for a bit of entertainment with some neighbouring travellers after dinner. David, the didgeridoo player, provided a truly heart-stirring performance on the instrument. I've bought a CD of didgeridoo meditation music and I'm typing this while listening to it. Sunday - 20th June Departed Kings Canyon at about 9:00am and headed for Alice Springs. ULP was $1.37/litre, most expensive so far. Travelled with Bruce and Elaine and as soon as we got CDMA coverage booked into the MacDonnell Range CP. We got the last sites. Forgot about NT school holidays. Arrived at the park around 4:00PM set up had a beer and settled down for a bit of a rest. We are booked in for 10 days. .
