Heading East from Perth

Friday - 10th September

Weather clearer but still blustery winds.  Turned east off Brand Highway via Gingin, Bindoon and Toodyay and joined the Great Eastern Highway at Northam.  Feels like we are heading home, only a bit over 2500k to go.  Lots of beautiful wildflowers along the way.  Had a look at the damage caused by the earthquake at Meckering.  Twisted the train tracks like clay.  Overnighted at a rest stop at Burracoppin, very handy to the local pub.  Freezing cold over night had to turn on the heater.

Friday - 17th September

Up early and pushed on down through the Adelaide Hills and on into Victoria.  Getting close to home.  Weather pretty miserable, should turn round and head north again.  Camped overnight at Wimmera River rest stop just out of Dimboola.

Saturday - 18th September

Up early again and arrived home about 1 in the afternoon.

In summary:

Arrived home a little earlier than we anticipated, but later than planned.  We bypassed the south west of West Australia because of poor weather.  We'll go back when the weather's warmer

Had a magnificent time, met marvellous people, visited astonishing places, ate delicious food and experienced perfect weather.  We can’t wait to head off again.  The Future Systems van and the Toyota Landcruiser performed very well.

We covered nearly 21,000 kilometres, which is roughly equivalent to driving from Melbourne to London then back to Cyprus.  We live in a big country.
