Friday - 24th August 

We moved on through Sapphire on to the gem fields and set up camp at the Rubyvale CP.  Nice spot with a great pub over the road.  After a walk around the town, Eddy and I went on a tour of the Bobby Dazzler mine and Penny and Judy sifted wash for sapphires. We joined the girls for some sifting after the mine tour.

Saturday - 25th August

It was a very strenuous day today.  We went sapphire fossicking on the diggings about 20kms east of Anakie.  We had a great time digging up the “wash” with pick and shovel, carrying the buckets to the tumbler/sieves and then washing the dirt off before searching through the pebbles.  We got a few nice although small sapphires, Penny and Eddy got a huge one.  Arrived home in the afternoon tired and worn out.  Had a great steak at the Rubyvale pub.
