Day 37 - Monday 6th June 2005

Left Ljubljana with a minimum of fuss and misdirection, one on the motorway we tootled along smartly at 130k.  Weather a bit miserable.  Left the motorway to wind our way down to Croatia.  Somewhat slower going dawdling along narrow country roads, occasionally behind farm vehicles.  Crossed into Croatia with little bureaucracy, we did get a stamp in our passports though.  Eventually back on a new motorway for a while and made good time driving through very rocky hill country covered in low scrub.   Quite a few tunnels, motorway finished someway from Split so we took the coast road, the water looked beautiful.  Lots of yachts along the way.  We drove on and got a room at the "Pansion Amigo" not far beyond Split.  Nice room with a balcony overlooking the beach.  We went for a walk along the beach to stretch our legs after an almost 500k drive and the elderly house dog came with us.  He was very pleased to have some walkers in the house.  Had dinner where we are staying, baked local fish, potatoes and zucchinis, absolutely delicious, sitting out looking over the water as the sun set.
