Day 52 - Tuesday 21st June 2005

Packed up for the trip to Salzburg, and had a trouble free and rather rapid exit from Prague, motorway was quick, while it lasted, then a long stretch of narrow 2 lane road, 50k through the villages and lots of trucks.  But the countryside was pretty and we enjoyed our drive.  A long stretch of the motorway in Austria was under repair and the speed limit was down to 100k, they placed progressively smilier faces along the route towards the end of the works, a nice touch.  We checked into our hotel and went for a walk through the gardens into the older part of town.  Had lunch in a park along the way then strolled through the beautiful Mirabell rose gardens and on down to the river.  There was a boat ride offered on the river, so we took that for an hour.  It was a welcome relief from the heat.  After the boat ride we up through little narrow streets into the old town for a mini-tour then we went back across the river and had drink at Reidel's (all the drinks are served in Reidel glasses).  Dinner was at a small out door cafe.
